SPEAR, SPENCER posted by George Spear on Monday, January 19, 1998

Lewis SPEAR was a Methodist Episcopal Circuit Rider for the Crawford Circuit from around 1832-185?. He had two, maybe three sons - Benjamin J., SPENCER, and Lewis B. SPEAR. I am searching for anyone with any records, church or otherwise pertaining to Lewis. He is probably the brother of my great, great grandfather, Jesse SPEAR who lived and died in Jasper County, GA. I cannot seem to find any concrete records of Lewis, although the Alabama Conference published a tribute to him in an 1858 edition of the Southern Christian Advocate. Help.

BLACK posted by ALVIN BLACK on Wednesday, January 28, 1998

In 1860 W. ?. BLACK and family were living in Russell Co (census page 1027). I believe this to be my great-great-grandfather. Where is this family in 1870? If it is indeed my g-g-grandfather, his descendents were in Pike Co, Arkansas by 1880.
