|                     The effects of the Civil War worked their way slowly through the Woodsmall family, in Kentucky, in Indiana, in Missouri.  The repercussions were long term.                   Just as these effects were fading in the 1920’s, the family confronted another challenge—the Great Depression.                   This economic event served as a catalyst to launch the next large dispersal of Woodsmalls, both black and white,                   across the United States.                                                                                                                                                     |
